Advising hours for the week of 2/26-3/2 and other updates

Hi EE Majors!!!!!!

My hours for next week (2/26-3/2)are as follows:
Monday 9:30-12 and 1-2
Tuesday 9:30-12 and 1-4
Wednesday 9:30-12
Thursday 9:30-12 and 1-3
Friday 9:30-12 and 1-3

Advance Registration for summer and fall 2018 is right around the corner.  For EE majors, I will begin clearing holds on February 19, 2018.  This semester, we are offering more walk-in advising hours to accommodate students schedules.  There will be only 2 weeks of scheduled appointments, the remaining time will be walk-in advising hours.    March 12-14 and 16-23, 2018 are the dates scheduled for making an appointment. 

The Summer 2018 Schedule of Courses has been published; Fall 2018 Schedule of Courses will be published March 5th. You can go to http://registrar.ufl.edu/soc/index.html to view the published schedule.

The registration system open April 2, 2018. To see your actual registration date, please check your account through one.uf system.
For students currently AIM students and HONORS students: please send an email directly to ntyoung@ufl.edu for assistance. Your advising may be conducted differently.


For students currently studying abroad and internship/coop: please send an email directly to ntyoung@ufl.edu for assistance. Please complete your advance registration worksheet and schedule a time to complete your Google Hangout advising session.

FIRST YEAR STUDENTS:
If you are a first year student (a non-transfer student that started your first semester at UF in Spring 2018, Summer 2017 and Fall 2017 regardless of your incoming credits), please disregard these instructions. You must see the First Year Advising team in Weil 204.

ALL STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE ADVANCE REGISTRATION WORKSHEET (ATTACHED TO THIS EMAIL)

Time frame to clear advising holds
Walk-in appointment dates: 2/19-3/12 and 3/26-4/11
To schedule an appointment from March 13-23, 2018.  Please use this link to schedule an appointment https://www.ece.ufl.edu/advisors/

For EE students to clear advising holds; there will be 2 ways to clear your advising holds for Summer and Fall 2018. You are able to schedule an appointment (see directions below) or come in during the designated walk-in advising day to clear your advising holds.  In each option you must complete the Advance Registration Worksheet (ARW). The ARW is attached to this email.  Do not wait until to your assigned date to clear all holds.

If your schedule does not permit you to come in during the schedule times above then you can send me an email to discuss options to clear your hold. 

Instructions for scheduling an appointment – please read entirely!
Appointments will be available Monday through Friday from 10AM-12PM and 1PM-4PM. Appointments will last approximately 20 minutes and will take place in 230 Larsen Hall. I respectfully ask that you arrive at least 5 minutes early in case the appointment before you ends early. Advance registration is a busy time; please understand that if you are more than 5 minutes late to your appointment you run the risk of being asked to reschedule for another date/time.

Please refer to the schedule above to see when you can schedule your registration appointment. Students that schedule an appointment earlier than outlined above will have their appointment cancelled and will need to reschedule. During this appointment, we will remove any holds on your record as well as discuss your plans for both the Summer and Fall 2018.


If you are completing an internship or coop this summer or fall 2018 and will like to earn credit.  Please have your forms submitted to my office by the following deadline dates.

Summer 2018 deadline date is  April 30, 2018
Fall 2018 deadline date is July 31, 2018

Updates, Deadlines, & Reminders

Good Afternoon EE Majors,

This is reminder that the 15/7 Drop rule deadline is tomorrow (February 16, 2017).  My office hours tomorrow are 10-12 and 1-3.  Please come in during that time.  If you are schedule does not permit you to come in during that time.  Please submit a request through this website, https://student.ufl.edu/dropadd.html.  The request must be submitted by this Friday.  Once you submit the request via the system, please send me verification email that you approve me to drop the course.  Please use this email ntyoung@ufl.edu.



ECE Department Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship Application due February 20, 2018 at 5:00 pm

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department scholarship application portal is open. Please complete the ECE Scholarship application by 5:00PM on February 20, 2018.  The link to complete the scholarship application is http://www.ece.ufl.edu/scholarship/ .  Please answer all questions fully.  To be eligible  for the departmental scholarships, you must be in good standing with the department and answer all questions. If you have any questions, please contact your electrical engineering advisor.

Please submit your online application no later than 5pm on February 20, 2018.  Department-level scholarship awardees will be announced after the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering scholarships.  HWCOE Undergraduate Scholarship awardees will be contacted by the college when awarded.   If you have any questions, please contact your undergraduate advisor.
