RE: Updates and Things to know

Hi EE Students:

Nicole's Advising hours for the week of 9/28
    Monday 9:30-12; Tuesday-Friday 10-12 and 1-4

EEL3834-Programing for ECE- UPDATE
-EEL3834 can only count for the Computer Programing requirement as of Fall 2016.  It cannot count as EE Technical Elective

Internships and Coops-Policy Updates

Effective immediately, students will not be permitted to retroactively attempt to register for internship credit. This has been a policy of the ECE Department, and the practice of a retroactive add is in violation of university policy. This is an issue currently being monitored by university administration and I will not authorize a retroactive add for any student.

Furthermore, there are murmurs that university is exploring the possibility of ending the summer hour enrollment waiver petition. If you are expecting a previous summer internship to serve as grounds for waiving all/part of your 9 hour summer term enrollment, it is in your best interest to submit your paperwork NOW. The petition packet requires three items:

A.      Cover sheet with your signature (can be found in 233 Larsen Hall)

B.      Personal statement (12 pt font, typed, double-spaced, no more than one page; further instructions are on the required cover sheet) explaining your rationale to waive your summer hours

C.      Evidence of internship completion (e.g. formal evaluation rubric, performance appraisal, or official memo from your former supervisor/manager on company letterhead)

Once these three items are compiled, you will then need to obtain my signature. You are welcome to leave your complete packet with the front desk staff in 230 Larsen Hall. I will email you when your packet is ready for pickup. You will then need to deliver it to the Office of the Registrar, located on the 2nd floor of Criser Hall. This is especially imperative if you are graduating in Fall 2017 or Spring 2018! I will be sure to keep you informed if university policy changes.

This is  a reminder that our waiting lobby has moved to 233 Larsen Hall. You will still sign into the kiosk computer (located in 230 Larsen Hall) but will then need to have a seat/wait in the lobby across the hall. We have video monitoring in this room, and students are called over using our intercom system. I do realize that the space is small and there may be times students need to wait in the lobby as overflow.

Please note that if you are not present when your name is called you will lose your place in line. We will make an effort to call your name twice; a third time will prompt our staff to skip to the next student in line. This will be done in an effort to minimize wait times for advisors (as we already expect longer lines during peak times).
