Technical
Writing Fellows Needed at UF’s Office of Technology Licensing
The Office of Technology Licensing (OTL) at
the University of Florida is responsible for transferring UF discoveries from
the laboratory to the market to make the world a better place! OTL is a
fast-paced, friendly, professional environment with many opportunities to learn
and develop real-world skills in research, technical copy writing and marketing.
If you geek out on technology and you’re dependable, goal-oriented and have a
science or health related background, you could become a valued part of our
team!
Fellows draft descriptions of technologies, assemble
targeted contact lists for high-tech discoveries and help with various other
special projects. See examples of materials drafted for technologies in several
disciplines at www.technologylicensing.research.ufl.edu.
This is a paid position and benefits include access
to startups and other entrepreneurial professionals who work in the Innovation
Hub at UF,
where the OTL offices are located. The first building in Innovation Square, the
Innovation Hub is a unique business incubator that shortens the journey from
discovery to the marketplace for Florida’s tech startup companies.
Minimum
qualifications:
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Available to work 12-15 hours/week
- Available for at least two semesters

Excellent verbal
communication skills
- Ability to review materials and draw out the most important information
- Ability to pay close attention to details
- Proven writing ability, preferably for marketing-focused communications
- An interest in science
Preferred qualifications:
·
Experience
in translational science or health communications
·
A
background in electrical or mechanical engineering
