RE: Advance Registration Updates and Advising Hours-Correction

Dear EE Major!!
Happy Monday!!!!!

Nicole’s Advising hours for this week are Appointments ONLY.  I am fully booked to 3/23/2018.  My walk-in hours will begin on 3/26/2018.

The current Computer Engineering Advisor will be changing positions. Sorry that information was  not clear in the first email.

Updates on Advance Registration.

Fall schedule is down at this moment.  At this time, schedule a time has not been schedule for it to open again. Please keep checking https://registrar.ufl.edu/soc/
Advance Registration Dates and Times are tentatively schedule to be posted by March 26, 2018.  This date may change or adjust due to moving to the new registration system.

Many of you may have heard rumblings of a new student information system rolling out over the next few months. For some, this message is the first you’ve heard of it! While the hope is for students to experience minimal change during this transition, please note that there are significant changes being made “behind the scenes” for advisors (as well as many other offices on campus). The way in which processes were completed in the past – like input consent, hold removal, changing majors, and registration overall – require additional/new steps, and it is going to take some time for all of campus to get up to speed. These changes are being rolled out piece by piece, and the advisors are working to adapt as quickly as we can. I ask that you please be patient during this transition: requests may take a little longer to fulfill, and we may need to double-check certain things before processing them. Please spread the word to your classmates across campus (regardless of their major) and show advisors empathy and compassion. We are working as hard and as quickly as possible to minimize any impacts felt by our caseloads. Updates will be sent out to you as soon as we have them available.

Please be aware that you will be registering in two different system.  Summer registration will be done in the current registration system.  The fall registration will be done in the new system.  There will be new terminology in this system.  For example, the 4-digit  section numbers will not be used but a 5-digit “Class number” will be used to register. Unfortunately, the systems are not able to “speak” to each other therefore the fall will not recognize what you have registered for in the summer.  For example, If you are registering for EEL3115 in the summer and try to register for EEL3112 in the fall. You will receive an error message of missing pre-requisite .  ECE Student Services Offices will be sending out an email to the ECE undergraduate  listservs regarding the process of how to register for the follow-up course(s) in the fall semester.

The best advice during this time is to read all emails that involve registration and be patient.  This change is campus wide. It is affecting all departments and advisors.

Thank you,

Nicole
