Position Description
The Powell Family Structures and Materials Lab
has vacancies for OPS Research Assistants. These positions support lab
operations and graduate research projects within the civil engineering
department. Responsibilities
include the preparation and testing of research specimens, design and
fabrication of test equipment, data acquisition and analysis, and
equipment operation and maintenance. Individual responsibilities will
vary based on employee qualifications.
These positions
provide the opportunity to collaborate with ESSIE faculty and staff in
state of the industry research. Students with a desire to develop
relevant experience or further their education should
consider this position a strong networking opportunity.
Compensation starts
at $10/hour, additional compensation available on a performance basis.
Must be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should
possess the following attributes: strong work ethic, attention to
detail, ability to follow instructions, and a desire to engage in the
research being conducted.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with
instrumentation and data acquisition, mechanical systems, construction,
metal fabrication, machining, familiarity with power tools.
