Dear ECE undergrads,
Are
you interested in space research in electrical and computer
engineering? Are you a junior or senior studying on campus this
summer? Would you like to work on computer systems to be featured on
upcoming NASA missions in space?
UF is
headquarters to the top national research center in its field, the NSF
Center for High-Performance and Reconfigurable Computing (CHREC,
pronounced "shreck", www.chrec.org).
CHREC is a partnership of four universities and 30 industry and
government partners, many of them space agencies and industries. Much
of the research in CHREC focuses upon space-based computing (i.e.,
processing, networking, systems, services, and apps) for the
International Space Station, satellites small and large, planetary
rovers, and deep-space exploration, from Earth science to space science
and more.
One of our largest projects is CSP,
the CHREC Space Processor (CSP), which has been adopted by the US space
program and is being featured on several upcoming NASA missions. The
CSP design team consists juniors and seniors working on a variety of
software, hardware, and hybrid tasks, from operating systems to apps to
middleware, from PCB design to FPGA design. With graduation this week
of several of our design-team members, we are recruiting a few more to
join the team in the summer term.
Note: per federal guidelines on space technology, US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
If
interested, please contact me with a copy of your resume and transcript
(unofficial copy is fine). We will be inviting candidates for
interview in the next week or two.
Best wishes,
-- adg
