All,
Chemours, a company that recently was spun off from DuPont, is looking to fill a Summer 2017 co-op offered in Starke (about 45 minutes north of Gainesville). They are hosting an information session for interested students on Monday, February 27th in room 234 Larsen. Their preference is sophomores and juniors pursuing EE degrees. Due to space and catering considerations we will have lunch available for the first 35 students. Please feel free to promote to students who you think may have an interest in learning more and attending the luncheon. For those who have an expressed interest in the co-op opportunities, please encourage them to apply via Gator CareerLink where the position is currently posted.

******************
The Academic Advising Center would like to announce a workshop for students at UF.  You might want to consider attending this workshop, especially if you want to get a basic understanding of your learning styles to enhance your academic experience.  This presentation is helpful for those who are new to UF, as well as those who have been at UF for 2 or more semesters wishing to learn more about strengthening their learning skills.

Understanding Your Learning Preferences and Becoming a More Successful Student
Presenter: Robert Kwong
Date: 2/15/2017
Time: 4:05 PM - 4:55 PM
Location: Academic Advising Center (Farrior) 2000
Struggling in class even though you understood the material? Confused as to why you did not do as well as you hoped on the exam, although the homework was not difficult for you? When students do not perform to their highest academic potential, it is not due to inability. Rather, it is from not fully understanding how they learn best for each class. Having a better sense of your learning style or learning preference will give you the edge in becoming more successful in your classes, and provide you with the tools to adapt different to teaching styles. This workshop will provide a basic overview of the different learning styles and help you learn to discover which study skill methods work best for you.

Seating is limited.

Please sign-up by registering for the workshop at: https://www.advising.ufl.edu/workshops  and selecting “AAC”  from “Select a Workshop Area”.

Sincerely,
Robert

Become LEED Accredited! - UFlorida - Monday Feb. 13

Subject: Become LEED Accredited! - Invitation to The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering

LEED Green Associate (GA) Training
When: February 13th 2017 – 6:15PM to 10:00 PM
Where: University Of Florida – J. Wayne Reitz Union – Room 2355 - https://goo.gl/maps/jhoURmAiYd92
Registration: http://leadinggreen.ca/uflorida

Interested in getting involved in the Green Building and sustainability Industry? Opportunities are plentiful and passing your LEED professional designation is required to get involved!

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is simply a green-rating point system to certify a building’s sustainability. Just as Buildings can be LEED certified, students and professional can become LEED Accredited themselves.  The LEED Green Associate (GA) credential is the only professional designation used to market yourself to employers and clients and show you have certified knowledge in the green building industry.

To date, this course and its materials have proven to be instrumental in helping over 7000 students pass their exam at a 100% pass rate and does not require any specific background. This course is offered at a quarter of the price and time as the competition and is geared at allowing students to graduate with letters after their name and it never expires!

Also, a new LEED rating system (v4) was introduced this year and this training course is one of the few that has been updated to teach the current rating system to ensure your knowledge is up to date! This course meets the exam’s eligibility requirements and the USGBC charges a $100 (reduced for students) fee for the actual exam which can be taken at any time at your nearest Prometric center.

Cost: $300 ($200 for full time students)
To register for the class please visit: http://leadinggreen.com/uflorida
You can register via PayPal or RSVP your attendance by registering at the bottom of the page
