RE: New Repeat Course Policy

Dear ECE Students,
The University of Florida has instituted a new repeat course policy as of Spring 2019  registration period.  It will affect students that are planning to retake a course(s) that they have enrolled in a prior semester where they earned a passing grade, dropped(earned “W”) or currently enrolled.  The UF has sent details about this policy to your Gatorlink email address.  If you are in this situation, please follow the directions below.  Do not send an email to your academic advisor.  The ECE Department policies and procedures is listed below.  Please follow the directions completely
1)      ECE Students will be required to send an email to registration@ece.ufl.edu with the Subject line: Repeat Course Registration
2)      In the email body, please include UFID number, Course name and Number and 3 class numbers(section #). Please include the day when you dropped from your schedule.  If you are not dropping the course, please explain why you have not or will not drop the course by the deadline date.

3)      This process will not guarantee automatic registration for the course, please have an alternate course to complete your schedule

Thank You,
ECE Student Services

Wednesday- I will be at an outreach event- no hours
Thursday- walk-in advising hours 9:30-11:30 and 1:30-4

I must receive your verification email by that 10/12/2018.  The verification form is below.  I will not drop the course unless I have the verification form.
If you have submitted an email verification. I am going through my emails and processing as I go.  You will receive an email from me when your course is dropped (if you have drops available).  If you do not have drops, I will provide you the directions for the next steps if the 15/7 Drop Rule does not apply to you.

If you have any questions about the 15/7 drop rule, please email me.   I will be out of the office tomorrow but checking emails.

Student project from Siemens

Hi EE Majors,

Please read the email below.

We have an exciting challenge from Siemens up on MindSumo and they would love to see your students solve it!

MindSumo is a platform that provides real company projects for students to help them develop professional skills and valuable experiences for resumes. We have worked with over 350 companies in the past and have over 300,000 students in our community.

Siemens - How can we better control mass air flow in rotating machinery?

These challenges are great for students who want to apply skills they learnt during their classes to solve projects for actual companies. Great to work on during their weekend, after school, during breaks and even as a class project. Each of these challenges also award the top performers with cash prizes.

Would you please forward my note to students and professors you think might be interested in such projects?

Feel free to reach out to me (isha@mindsumo.com) if you or your students have any questions. Hope to see many of your students participate!

Thank you,
